Into Fulltime Poker mode!
Exams are over, the sun is shining and the girls are smiling!
Wait...
What?
Fulltime Poker doesn’t really go together with girls and sun unless we are playing fulltime Strip poker outside on the verandah with our Vaio laptop!
Wanna play Strip Poker one time baby, just one time..?!
Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of having a Vaio laptop ( I spend my money on something else) and I certainly got no verandah around here! ( We Dutch hate expensive things ).
It is interesting to foresee June and July as vacation months where no deadline is set to hand in papers nor temptations to actually dump the study books and go clubbing instead.
It is interesting - for me particularly – to see my volume in playing poker go up as I am a lazy bum lacking volume thus increasing variance (VAR = n*p*(1-p) and take the square root of that and you have your standard deviation =D ).
It is
interesting to be back at Pokerstrategy after a sort of hibernation. It is also
like time to look back what I achieved around here. I joined PokerStrategy like
1 year, 2 weeks and five thousand posts ago. Weei time to celebrate
!
From the day I posted my ownage hand against Timukasr back on NL10 ( http://www.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=19452 )
To the everylasting discussion about a NL200 FR BSS Sample hand of mine during a SSS public private coaching for the Dutch community against a LAGfish ( http://nl.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=17188 )
As I know that I am not growing as hard as some members, I still am satisfied by the way I progressed! Ofcourse there are times where I thought ‘’Why the hell did I played while X happened earlier today and Y is still haunting my mind?!??!’’ but oh well, I soon enough got experience with that as well!
The BSS adventure in May was a little side-step but in terms of specialization, I would like to finish SSS first than do both at the same time thus splitting my mindset, knowledge & time.
As I will start to learn new content for my toolbox on 200 SSS there must be some active brainstorming going on as well since learning original material is fine but it is not innovative.
As the co-founder of Sony Corporation, Akio Morita said:
‘’ "Of course we have to make a profit, but we have to make a profit over the long haul, not just the short term, and that means we must keep investing in research and development – ‘’
Oh and by the way
Bet365 is going live so it seems like I can beat Yoghi's comment ''Gaat zeker net zo goed lukken als diamond worden?
'' this time by becoming Diamond
*gna*gna*
Concerning my month in May, check the local blog out, I need to keep the soul alive there !
For now cheers!

Yes boys and girls, it's been some time since I updated. The biggest reason for this is that life outside of poker doesn't go too well. Family members just keep passing away all the time it feels... I'm also going to live on my own in a few weeks, or well, together with my brother. Really looking forward to it but it's also kinda weird since me and my brother are completely different and don't really like eachother too much, but we'll see what happens :)
In poker things just keep on going my way, it feels like I'm just completely owning all my opponents. After going through that rough stretch on the beginning I'm just in the zone and I'm now up $40k this month, I even got 7th in some MTT for $2.3kish where I played pretty decent aswell. Yesterday was the sickest day I ever had and I ended up winning over $14k for most money won in 1 day. This also put me over the €100k barrier, which is pretty important for me. Now when somebody says I can't make a living of this game I can say I made this amount which should be more convincing in combination with my other arguments.
It all started with losing the first 7 hands in a row of a 100/200 session and losing 3.5k in no time, but after that it was my time to get lucky and after 79 hands I busted my opponent for 5.3k. This already made it a good day, but it was really early and I just kept on playing a bit. After some shortstackers which took 1k of me I had a longer session against some fish who always runs good against me, he ran good again this session but I ended up winning $50/0.5BB before I went to watch the Champions League final. After that I was ready for more, but I didn't expect it to go this way. The opponent where I won $50 from earlier that day sat with me at 150/300 which made me pretty happy, but also aware of the fact that I should play my best game if I don't want to risk losing a lot of money. So a friend of me watched me play and we started, as usual I played and ran pretty well and won 9k in 43 hands, then he went allin with TP vs my OESD+pair. I missed and after that he played pretty well it seemed. He always folded when I had it and raised when I didn't have anything. I got pretty frustrated and started to doubt if I really did have a big enough edge to continue playing. That's where it was usual to have a friend watch me because I didn't want to give up and I kinda knew that I had a big edge. So I kept on playing and I went from -2k to +10k in 65 hands and busted him which made me feel really good.
I also decided to quit playing no limit. I still enjoy it, but now I realise that I can make much more money in FLHU with less effort and less time. I'm also really motivated to become better and better so I can play a bit more opponents. I have decided that I will take some private coachings when I live on my own and have time for it, plus I will be doing some theory work on the game as I still do everything because I think it's good, not because it's mathematically correct/best and I feel like I'm missing calldowns because of that. After getting deep in the MTT I started to like them again (lol results oriented) and decided that I will start playing a few of them on the side when I have time for them. I'm also planning to play 1 or perhaps a few EPTs next year and I don't wanna play in them without any experience obviously.
I also decided to go to the blackmember party in Hamburg. Really looking forward to it and I hope it will be better than last one because it's 2 days now. Hopefully I can see a few of you there :)

I apologise for the lack of posts after my initial one, ideally there should be one every 15 days or so to get the mid-month update and the end of month review. I guess there was just nothing remarkable to report and this will have to do before the end of month post.
My attempts at 5/T 6-max haven't been too bad. Despite a loserate at this new limit thus far I feel I've been playing solidly with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 sessions, but overall I'm happy with my game selection & how I approached my game.
Also thus far I have somewhat cemented a decent routine whereby I actually do some exercise every day instead of playing until my eyes bleed and I have a pounding headache.
That ends the positives.
I had a stint in the middle of the month where I bought a new RTS, Battleforge, and for a week or so I was playing more of that than poker. It has harmed my hours played this month and was kinda stupid in hindsight and given that these opening months are VERY important for the building of my on--my-own-next-year bankroll.
Anyways I've been more strict lately and have been playing purely poker during my work day which is ideally 8-5 or 6ish with a 1-2 hour break in there somewhere. I would probably be at supernova by now if it wasn't for that game but I'm still aiming for SN by May 31st which is totally achievable.
Also on this day I will be able to start unlocking my first 4K$ cash bonus, ship ship!
So I'm gonna get back to it, I'll screenshot my status in my end of month post and give you the juicy stats etc. as well
Take care and gl,
TerrorBlade
For the first time in a very long time, I went on tilt today. I guess I should start by saying that I have been playing $2/4 plo for the last week or so, as one of my good friends told me I should take the time to learn how to play it with deep stacks. I grinded a little, around 4000 hands and was up a nice $12,000, which was obviously running well above expectation. Today, I loaded up a session after Katy and I got home from the gym and ran awful. I lost, looking back through pokertracker, around 7 buyins due to normal variance but the last 3 came from, as far as I can tell, poor play. I really dont even know what came apon me, as one second I was sitting here grinding (and getting pwned) and the next thing I know, stacks are going all in with QJ54sscc pre. Anyways, I think admiting this little defeat here in my blog will help me do better in the future. I think I am also going to set up some sort of "stop loss" for the near future, where if I lose 4 buyins, I will wrap up my session asap. I have never been a fan of a stop loss, as if you are +ev, you should still be +ev no matter if you are running good or bad, but when tilt starts to enter the equation, that all goes out the window. I know Phil Ivey used to quit whenever he lost one buyin at the super high stake games. If he does it, it cant be too awful.
I played the $500 bellagio tournament on Friday and lost sometime in the 4th hour. I had been fairly aggressive but when blinds jump from 100/200 to 200/400, the 10,000 starting stack shrinks up really fast. I raises with some junk hand from the button and the small blind, who I know to be a good european guy reraised. I folded and moved onto the next hand. I picked up JJ and raised from the cutoff to 2.5bbs out of my 20bb stack. The european reraised again and now a super tight small blind pushed. I folded and the euro showed AA to beat the nits A9s. The very next hand I picked up JJ again and raised. This time, a looseish young kid reraised from the big blind. I decided to get in, as folding here would be quite bad, and lost to his QQ. All in all though, I think have learned to play these small tournaments fairly well, as I had 2 money finishes out of 7 tournaments and probably would have won one of them if I could have won one out of 3 coin flips at the final table. Simply put, I think I am ready for the WSOP.
Speaking of the WSOP, it starts Thu, with my first event being the $40,000 buyin event. That should be a fairly important one, as winning it, or even making it deep for that matter, should bring in lots of money. After that, there is a slew of smaller events before the big one. I will probably post again after the $40,000 event. GL to everyone.
